Curt's Soft-Trac II Breakaway System without charger is intended for use on single tandem and tri-axle trailers equipped with electric brakes. Most states require the use of a breakway system with separate power supply when towing a trailer. The Breakaway system will lock the brakes on the trailer in an emergency situation where the trailer becomes separated from the towing vehicle.
